Assistant Prof. position at CU-Boulder: urban geographer of cities in the Global South

The Department of Geography and the International Affairs Program at the University of Colorado Boulder invite applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level in Human Geography. A Ph.D. in Geography or related field is required by the time of appointment. The appointment begins August 2017.

We seek an urban geographer of cities in the Global South. Applicants should have a strong record of conducting field research and engaging with theoretical debates in Geography.  Priority will be given to candidates whose teaching interests include geographies of food or water and whose research addresses social or environmental justice, broadly construed. The position will be jointly rostered in Geography and International Affairs, with teaching split evenly between the two.  Because the position requires substantial interdisciplinary undergraduate teaching in International Affairs, the successful candidate must have demonstrable strength and interest in teaching courses with an international focus.

All requirements for the PhD must be completed by August 15, 2017.  Applications are accepted electronically at  posting number 006678, and should include an application letter, a curriculum vitae, up to three relevant reprints of publications, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and 1-2 page statements of research and teaching plans. Candidates must also provide the names and e-mail addresses of three professional references. Review of applications will begin on October 20 2016 and continue until the position is filled.
